About Us

We are the Everett Steelhead and Salmon Club, an independent organization over 150 strong, which is affiliated with The Puget Sound Anglers.

The Everett Steelhead & Salmon Club was founded in the 1950's. We were founded not just for recreational purposes but also for propagation of the fishery resources. ESSC has not been geared only to the recreation aspect of fishing but we have also been involved in instructing young people to fish and protect the fishery we all enjoy. We believe that you need to teach youth not just the recreational value of fishing, but also the conservation of our natural resources.

Some of the programs we are involved with are the "Cast for Kids" at Silver Lake in Everett, the kids fish-in at North Gissburg Pond, the Jennings Park kids event in Marysville and the kids fishing derby at the Navy's Jim Creek facility outside of Arlington. In promoting various enhancements and educational programs throughout the year, we are not just teaching our youth but also helping to benefit our local communities.

ESSC has returned over 150,000 pounds of salmon carcasses into the upper Pilchuck River to enhance stream productivity for the young salmon hatched in the spring.

On a yearly basis ESSC sponsors young people to the Youth Conservation Camp on Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands. We also provide scholarships to college students at local colleges and universities who are specializing in fisheries biology or fisheries enforcement. The Club also provides for the transportation needs of a local middle school class who are involved with stream enhancement.
